I posted the details on the Icarus blog.
Please give them a read. If I cannot find a new home for him, he will end up in a shelter. :(
Thank you.

Hello again!
So, still on the road.
This weekend, Cap and I ran a LARP at The Baron's house. Lucretia, the General, and Ay-Leen also made it, along with the Baron's new beau. A good time was had by all! We ran a modified version of Vampire: The Masquerade combined with pieces of Requiem. We are calling it "The New Masquerade". I was quite pleased with how players- especially the newbies- took to the world. We had some slight problems with running combat but beyond that…

Toying with another late night insipid idea half formed-- I should like to start a discussion topic, but being fairly new here and unacquainted with the local customs, perhaps I might decide against it-- fear that NO ONE will be interetsed perhaps. start a writer's round robin, open to any and all citizens, even those not inclined to write. Each person just submits a line or three from something they are writing, thinking about, have written or once came to mind. not a competition, just for…

At Marcon earlier this year, I bought a pith helmet. Of course, having done so I was now somewhat obligated to build a proper outfit around it. I already have a nice pair of boots. I ordered a Sam Browne belt on which to hang various steampunky tools, gadgets and weapons. I needed a…

I just finished an interview with Innsmouth Free Press today, set for release on October 6th, and I have a cover feature in Beneath Ceaseless Skies set for November. I also became a bit carried away with engraving, my relapse triggered by using this media for the upcoming Gatehouse Gazette cover. Two other engravings were made, I uploaded them to my pics here, but if you are interested you can larger and better graphics of them at mykeamend.com.
Otherwise, I have been painting away -…

I decided to go with the leafing sheets, rather than a liquid.
A few weeks ago I found a pair of scratched and broken swim goggles discarded at our local pool.
Naturally, I rescued them.
I applied the gold leaf and then an "antiquing glaze". I didn't like the results of the glaze, so I leafed a second layer and was satisfied.
The nose bridge was painted with simple brass model paint and then given a clear coat.…

I regret that I have not reported back to the Empire in many days-- no excuse, really, except 'things'. Most excited that a new musical play penned by my darling Mr. O'Brien makes its debut at a theatre in Hornchurch, for those of you London based steamers who are inclined to attend the theatre, this very weekend in fact. A more contemporary bit of detective fiction than I prefer, being of a 19th century mind. It did play in part 'down-under' over 25 years ago, but this incarnation will be…

I added some more to the pistol.
The sighting glass is a very small magnifying glass I gave some gold and brass coloring and it is just simple water and blue food coloring in the jar, now.

Google is celebrating the 400th anniversary of the first public demonstration of Galileo's telescopes, and
an article in the Guardian imagines what future generations will hold important. Steampunk is awfully steamy these days, but today we're looking at the futuristic punk aspect of all those gears and switches. Matt Staggs starts it off with his…

Dear Reader,
No word counts to brag about today, alas, but just checking in to relieve your tender anxiety and assure that I am well and have not fallen prey to some hideous tentacular kraken from the shadowy depths of my psyche . . . at least not yet, but I know it's waiting for me . . . no, the truth is far more mundane, it's the start of the school year and I also have a play to direct which means that I go from having two and a half months of active lifestyle to having no life…

The party was awesome. A grand total of thirteen guests. All Lyn's preparations were a big hit, even though while we were clearing up and putting things back into the fridge we found that we'd forgotten to get the avocado dip out in the first place. Oops! Good thing we like it ourselves. The BBQ was wonderful, as it always is from that restaurant. Very little of it is left, but we do have enough of the Brunswick stew for me to eat for a couple of days. All the desserts are left, including a…

Looks like folks will start arriving around noon-ish. Thank you to everyone who is planning to be here. And another thank you to those who wish they could attend.
OK, I've got to feed the pets, sweep the porch, and then help Cita in the kitchen.
Our best to you all!

Ay-Leen and I have finished writing, re-writing, and editing our essay, and have submitted it to the editors.
The manuscript of the entire anthology will soon go for anonymous peer review. I'm thinking that we shall know by October whether all is well and our essay will get into the anthology.
Working on the essay has thrown me off my writing game and I'm finding it considerably difficult to get back into writing (both blog and fiction).
Meanwhile, the waiting…

Steamglasses!
Zenni Optical
I've known several people who purchased spectacles from this company with satisfaction.
Here's a Livejournal post in which their quality and some shipping pointers are discussed. Most of the glasses are $19.00 or thereabouts for frame and lenses! That's a serious steal, most glasses are at least $300!
And now,…
