The Crossroads of the Aether
A summer of cool breezes continues with many-a-day let drift by without riding down the path. Today I rode the greenway from the park to the end and back with a brief stop to rest at the coffee house. Apparel: Tan knickers with black knicker socks, gray and green checked vest, white shirt with blue stripes and tan cloth cap (when not riding) and black helmet (when riding). The path was deserted. Where was everyone? I only elicited smiles from a family walking on the trail. …

Had a dream about a homeless guy in another time period who had these painful metal rods in his feet, and I watched him wander the streets of a small dirty town with his briefcase, in a tattered brown and pink suit. He fell over dead by the railroad tracks one misty morning, and I clearly recall his foot and the weird rod in his heel that attached the flip flops to his feet. I remember that it was painful for him to walk, but he was always…

Finding Freedom
Prolog
London, England, White Chapel District
1917
The lingering night seems to hold the sunrise at bay over the slumbering city of London. Fog shrouds the city in a wet cloak, seeming to stifle the life in the once-bustling metropolis. It swirls through the streets as if it were alive, curling down each and every ally, seeping along the ground, pooling near doors, sliding through open windows like a thief in the night. The smell of the Thames, of…

One of my favorite early memories was of sitting on my parent's bed, watching my mother sewing something on her old Singer, while pulling thread through a piece of red felt and decorating it with buttons and ribbon.
I have since come a long way in my sewing abilities, but without that early…

On Monday, I will have officially lived 3 decades. My Parents have always told me I was left on their doorstep in a pod. Star Wars was the first movie they saw in the theater after getting married. So they sent me this, complete with the Star Wars theme song:…

I got a report from an indie friend that another author's book was pirated for 21000 downloads from mybookezz.com. I got on with an almost empty Visa gift card to check it out.
So, here it is. You search it on the first website, the mybookezz, and that leads you to Playyeah.net, then the Mybookezzz site crashes. Playyeah asks for credit card for access and account. I got a free 5 day trial to investigate. I did NOT find my book on Playyeah, the actual download site.…

Our expedition came upon a small village on the outskirts of Moscow. The cold was dreadful, and I feared for the health of our frailer fellows. I was reluctant to enter the village as it appeared to be uncivilized or, at the very least, unsophisticated, but the nearest city was kilometres away, and the cold had rendered our engine inoperable. The steam turned as quickly to ice as it hit the freezing air, and the wind made it impossible to maintain speed. We were forced to hire a sleigh…

We stayed off the main roads and stuck to the frontier land on our way to Fortune City, New Mexico. The Pinkerton didn’t seem to mind. He was a quiet, patient travel companion. Hazel on the other hand, was so hopped up she might have been a Mexican jumping bean. The hotter the weather became and the closer we drew to Fortune City, New Mexico, Hazel got wound tighter and tighter.
She was bouncing in her saddle upon her long-suffering steed Tesla the afternoon we drew towards the small,…

I received a PS3 for my birthday and the first game I have been playing is Red Dead Redemption. It is, in basic format, Grand Theft Auto in the wild west. Now, I don’t mind the piddling little missions so much (the herding cattle, bucking broncos and other things that seem more "Little House on the Prairie" than "Wild Bunch"), and I’ve even gotten used to the way-the-hell-gone riding all over the empty game map (I…
