Thanks to the lovely Miss Abiliegh Cross for the inspiration for today's steambargains, dug up from the pages of Fashion Bug! Sadly, they won't let me steal their pictures, so you'll have to click through for these bargains.
The best part about FB right now is that clearance items are Buy One, Get One for $5!!! Now that's a bargain if I've ever heard one! Their most steamy items seem to be capri pants, here are just a few of available (plus size!) pairs:…

I am living on the road, as many of you know.
This is making my steampunking a little difficult.
I am a big fan of dress up in all of its forms. And I love wearing my steampunk a la steamcasual. Of course, I can't wear nearly what I want on a normal day-to-day basis since we are on the road and have limited access to washing. It makes things really ...interesting. But I am not exactly in jeans and a t-shirt, so I am happy with that!
So it is less my daily wear…

Today's steambargain is thanks to the lovely angel_of_dark on livejournal.
Trooper Woven Jacket
Priced at a mere $22.80.
Sadly, if any of the following adjectives apply to you, this jacket is not going to fit: buxom, voluptuous, curvaceous, plus size, zaftig.
Happily for you,…

So, the stores are tossing their garish summer wear to the clearance racks, and the Fall Collections are coming out. I went on a bit of a shopping spree today, and I am happy to report that Victorian influenced garments are a staple once more. I was pleased to note that a wider variety of colors seem to be represented this year as well, which is a refreshing addition to the myriad of khaki, olive and brown that I've already got. I was lucky enough to catch employees putting the first of the…

Especially steamy purses and bags are hard to find, so even though $38 is not a particular deal, I'm posting this anyway:
Fred Flare's Equestrian Cross-Stitched Satchel. Add a cog and it's appropriately steamy.
Find it here!
Even better, you can coordinate this bag with a

Ladies and gentlemen, we have found
the ultimate steampunk, or at least the ultimate steampunk authentication. Hee.
Comic-Con is over, but
the steampunk brigade was out in full force and even set a Guinness record, according to LA Weekly. And look at…

Yesterday, I kept thinking in my head "If I had a spotted puppy for every day I have been on the road, I could make a Disney movie." ^_^
Day 100 has passed! And I am still on the road.
Getting ready for ConnectiCon, where I have 4 panels with the Dreadfuls, a dance, a photoshoot, and several friends in the Artists Alley and Dealers Room are helping me out by displaying and selling some of my wares. Spreading it out over so many people, I hope to get a better take than if I…

Dear Reader,
Thank you for following the progress of my daily writing and the development of the first draft of my book. Today I started chapter 4 and wrote 511 words. I had thought I would wait until August to shift down a gear, but today seemed to be the day that I lowered my pace and daily target to 500 words. This is largely in preparation for going back to work in the middle of August (I teach English to pay the bills) which has a dramatic impact on my opportunities to write and…

Dear Reader,
This morning saw the overly successful end of chapter 3. This chapter that seemed each day like it was only a page away from conclusion actually took another 1285 words this morning to find its end. The whole chapter is 5422 words long, which is far too big and a lot of it will most likely be taken out during the first edit, but I had fun introducing a new character who I had been eager to get into the action.
Yours truly, Aloysius
PS: Once I have…

To Whom It May Concern:
Please allow this brief biograph to serve as an introduction.
While attending The University of Manchester I apprenticed at the Whitworth Arms factory where I advanced very quickly to the position of Master Armorer. After receiving my degree in mechanical engineering, and under the tutelage of my third cousin, Sir Joseph Whitworth, I moved into the Design and Development department. Here I helped to design new and more advanced weapons as well as…

Dear Reader,
It was my sincere belief that I was going to conclude chapter three this morning, but after 947 words my characters are still in the parlor and are only just retiring for the night; I need to clear the scene so that the murder may take place and finish the chapter with the discovery of the body. This chapter has been rather dull as there is little action and a lot of talking, but it is the quiet before the storm so to speak.
My aspirations of having the first…

A little tea will help. This has been my... 'mantra', if you will, for the last decade or so. Only once have I found tea to be the source of miscellaneous troubles. But enough about that.
The Albatross' repairs are now fully complete. We set out, 9 days ago now, towards our next pick-up. Not the most liberating of jobs by way of finance, but the change in scenery has been quite timely. Spots of grey paint the skies ahead as we sail head-on into stormy sky-scapes, yet they do not…

Dear Reader,
It has been a better morning, but I still fell short of my 1000 word target. Today I managed 739 words, but I am promising myself the remaining 300 words or so (it might actually take 2 pages more to finish this chapter) later today. Chapter 3 still concludes with the murder that is going to push a lot of the rising action forward.
Aloysius

I printed my
calling/visiting cards yesterday. They're a little more subtle in colour than I'd hoped, but given that my experience is in multimedia design and not print design a bit of trial and error is to be expected. I'll saturate and darken the colour more in future print runs.
I added my name to…

I have been informed that next year's LibertyCon will have a panel discussion on Steampunk. Cita and I have been requested to attempt to recruit Ace Talkingwolf and other southern US steampunks for the panel. If you think you might have the weekend of July 9th through th 11th of 2010 clear, I urge you to bookmark the LibertyCon homepage and see if you can get con memberships and hotel reservations for the event.
the LibertyCon Homepage is http://www.libertycon.org and there is a news…

Dear Reader,
Once more I am sitting in the lobby of a hotel having just managed to add just under a page to chapter 3. This morning's effort produced 235 words; far below my target, but at least it is something. When the alarm went off this morning I actually went back to sleep, but after a bit of a doze I got up anyway, got dressed, left my family sleeping in the room, had breakfast, then planted myself at this table in the lobby. I have heavy bags under my eyes and a dulled…

I wish I had more access to the internet. I often find myself cramming all my work into a few short hours on someone else's computer, and then I don't have time to be all eloquent and engaging on the blog. It makes my travels sound far less interesting to be all "did this, this, this and then this", when I know I could be talking in much more detail, actually helping you *care* about what I am doing. I used to be so good at doing this, but I guess it helped that I had all the time in the world…
