Today's Ponderance...Success is a matter of perspective

Manically ranting...about something

Upon the great glories of everything steampunk, I've tangled my way from image to image and found the good the bad and the mildly disturbing...but then that could be my own delicate sensibilities coming through to the surface. With that, I wait - somewhat impatiently - for a couple of web series to come about after being teased with the trailers and it has left my mind in a field of absence. Yes, on one and no on the other.

As my mind is wont to do, it fills in any unnecessary laspe… Continue

steampunk linkblog, January 31 2012

Bruce Sterling and Jon Lebowsky talk about future change as we start 2012. It sounds sort of ominous.

Speaking of, the Victorians had some ideas about the apocalypse. (A related link that’s just as…

Ava's Apparel - The January Review.

So, aside from the fact that 'the January Review' would make a fantastic band name, I'm here to tell you all about my new business venture, Ava's Apparel. A little about me first:

I have been into Steampunk actively for the last 2 years, but been into it without knowing there was a word for it (let alone an entire community) for about 10 years. I've been making my own clothing for about 4 years, and Steampunk clothing for the last 2. I specialise mainly in Steampunk women's clothing,…

It's Monday night and that means: The Clockwork Cabaret!

The Clockwork Cabaret™ is a weekly podcast hosted by the darling Davenport sisters in Chapel Hill, NC.

The sisters play the "Music o' Gears" for Steampunk ears, an anachronistic style of music that will make you long for the days gone by. A wide assortment of jazz, blues, goth, folk, swing, gypsy punk, dark cabaret, classical and other…

Donations to the Black Angus Project

Hello I am Black Angus of Valhalla's Anvil! I am a blacksmith/bladesmith, jeweler and leather worker in the Medieval, Fantasy, Scifi and Steampunk Genres. I have been in business since 1999. As of late the economy and my personal life has stood in the way of my business. I am trying to change this, but I need help. Below is my plan for what I will do if I can raise enough money...

First I need to get some equipment and supplies in order to keep making things, design new pieces and…

How to Wash A cat

  1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.
  2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water and have both lids lifted.
  3. Obtain the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.
  4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids (you may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape). CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, as his paws will be reaching out for anything they can find. The cat will…

Doctor Omega: A Book Review

At the turn of the previous Century, science fiction was still a fairly new genre and there were very few successful authors so it shouldn’t be surprising that the stories of these founding fathers were recycled by later authors. We are all familiar with the works of Jules Verne and H. G. Wells, whose stores are told and retold over and over, but not so much with those of Arnould…

Aether of life

In the Aether of life time and illness conquer most. Time can be managed, illness is much harder to conquer. If not for Medics, minstrels, magicians, and the like we would suffer.Time slips by and we ponder, illness creeps up and binds us, being able to look past all the misery and focus on life is sometime…
