The Colonel's portrait for the set

"The Colonel's portrait for the set" A prominent feature of the Mrs. Hawking set is the portrait of the Colonel that hangs over the mantlepiece in the parlor. I always liked the idea of this detail, as it gives a physical representation to how the Colonel’s presence hangs over the play, and the entirety of Mrs. Hawking’s life. To represent it in the Arisia ’15 production, I decided to find an appropriate image.…See More

New blog post on Mrshawking.com -- "Set-building cleverness"

"Set building cleverness"There are many challenges involved in bringing a theatrical production into being. A lot of elements need to be handled before the story becomes a reality that require a high investment of time and effort. One of those elements is figuring out how to put together a set. While I don’t feel it’s necessary for it to be a literal representation of the Victorian parlors and gentlemen’s clubs specified in the text, there are least…See More

Glad to be of service. I just hope it does you some good! You may want to take a look and make sure I didn't botch anything: http://steampunkjack.weebly.com. I'm doing final proofread, edit, and formatting on my sequel right now, so my world is a jumble of hyphens, reverse quotation marks, Victorian slang, and so on. This is a writer's production phase; tends to come after the story is told...

Hope this finds you well, though. Break a leg! (Do stage people really say that?)

My dear lady, I am thrilled and honored to accept your request.  And I haven't forgotten to mention your play, either.  The holidays always take a toll, and there was an issue with our association wanting us to paint our house, but it will appear in tomorrow's steampunkjack post.  Can't promise how many people will see it; apparently, everyone else is going through the holiday rush as well, but it will be there.  So, how are things with you?

Ah, you write?  Allow me to extend you an invitation to join us at Scribblers' Den.  We have at least one member who has written a screenplay, and with all the conversation going on, who knows what you may pick up there?  I have scheduled posts coming up on my blog at http://steampunkjack.weebly.com and over at Goodreads, where I will be sure to mention you in my next dissertations.  Also, I'll drop a notice at the Steampunk Writers and Artists Guild, though it may be a few hours; I'm at work right now, and have to squeeze these activities in between jobs.  Well, have a great day, and I hope to see you around the web.

Just read your playbill; this sounds brilliant!  Do you act in it?  I'm afraid as a Californian of rather ordinary means, I won't be able to attend, but I will throw you some publicity on my various sites and groups.  I hope you have a very successful presentation.  Oh, and welcome to the aviary, by the way.  Hope you find time to have a good time here, as well.
